Introducing: Knockaround Class Acts

On November 1st, Knockaround is taking you to school. We are excited to introduce Knockaround Class Acts, a campaign which aims to donate money, resources, and art supplies to underfunded elementary schools.

You might remember our trip to Hilltop Elementary in 2012 when a fifth grader named Sebastian designed the Shark Attack Premiums. 200 pairs of these shark themed Limited Editions went into production and sold out in under an hour. As a result, we were able to donate $5 from every pair to purchase new art supplies for Sebastian’s school.

Well, we’re at it again. Over the last few weeks the Knockaround crew visited three elementary schools in the San Diego area. We held a design contest and received over 300 submissions. We’ve selected an awesome winning design to share with the world.

We will be pre-selling the glasses on Indiegogo.com during the month of November. That way, everyone who wants a pair, gets a pair, and we can maximize our potential donation. 100% of the money raised during our November campaign will be given back to the participating elementary schools, and ArtReach, our partnering non-profit organization which facilitates art education in underfunded elementary schools around San Diego. Read more about them here.

So stay tuned, the design will be revealed on November 1st.

Breast Cancer Awareness 5k!

This past weekend the Knockaround crew took part in a breast cancer awareness 5k walk through Balboa Park in San Diego. We were happy to fight off the fog and chilly weather for a great cause. Donations raised by our team went to the American Cancer Society.

LXM PRO: San Diego Recap

The second stop of the LXM PRO Tour took place at the Del Mar Polo Fields in Del Mar, California. Right up the street from Knockaround HQ and Adrenaline HQ, this event was perfect for local fans.

Young players had the chance to attend shooting clinics hosted by the professional players before the the big game. Once 2 o’clock struck, it was time for the main event.

After STX’s victory in Orange County a few weeks prior, Maverik United was looking for a win. Both teams started off with a strong game, tied 8 – 8 at the half. The second half was a high-intensity, and high-scoring couple of quarters. Although Maverik United played strong defense, they couldn’t fight off Team STX. With a final score of 21 – 16, Team STX had a second win under their belts.

Max Ritz, Shamel Bratton, and Sam Bradman led Team STX with four goals a piece. While powerful attack, Erik Krum, led Team Maverik United with 4 goals of his own.

The official Knockaround Autograph Session followed the game with young fans eagerly awaiting the signatures of their favorite players. While the players cooled down and refueled, they spent time signing custom Knockaround x LXM PRO posters for their fans.

Next stop, Chicago.

Bring Back the Brown II

Knockaround teamed up with another local San Diego brand, Product Etcetera, to produce these special “Bring Back the Brown II” Fort Knocks sunglasses.  Conceived as a follow-up to the original Bring Back the Brown Fort Knocks, these sunglasses feature matte brown arms, frosted yellow fronts, polarized Yellow Sunset lenses, and gold metal hardware.  Each pair comes with an official-size baseball, a soft flannel pouch, and a 19″ x 28″ Bring Back the Brown poster.

Product Etcetera created the BBTB campaign with the grand objective of fostering a stronger loyalty to San Diego and its sports culture. The BBTB strategy is primarily focused on establishing brown as one of the visual foundations of the San Diego Padres, as it’s unique to Major League Baseball and holds historical significance to San Diego. San Diego is the oldest European (Spanish) settlement in California and was founded by friars. Friars wore brown and our team is called the Padres. It’s that simple.
