Well, if it isn’t March already! Spring is (almost) here and so is a new round of songs, hand-picked by members of the Knocksquad. Head over to Spotify to listen or check out this month’s tracks below.
It’s the month of basketball, St. Patty’s Day, and Spring Break, and at Knockaround, we’re obviously not letting these happenings go unnoticed. So, stay tuned…and in the meantime, turn it up and rock on!
DONALD GOULD / LEAD DESIGNER
Violent Femmes with "Blister in the Sun"
I had the chance to see them live in Detroit a few years back and it was magical. A go to feel-gooder :)
DREW LEWIS / SENIOR ACCOUNT MANAGER
Danny Brown with "Grown Up"
I’m a huge Danny Brown and Party Supplies fan so when they teamed up for this song, I was stoked. Super catchy and clever—plus, this is the only Danny Brown song that’s even remotely appropriate enough for the Knockmix. Enjoy!
ACE MOYER / FOUNDER & CEO
Average White Band with "Work to Do"
I have this moment about once a week: I'm at home on my laptop attacking a few Knockaround to-dos, and my beautiful wife, Meredith, asks me to do something like take out the trash or change a light bulb. I usually stand-up, exasperated, and shout, "Baby, I got work to do!" And it reminds me of this song. And then I go take out the trash, or change the light bulb.
KATIE AKIBA / DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Years and Years with "Shine"
This song always reminds me of summer. Years and Years is a young group from the UK. They opened up for Ellie Goulding on her tour last year and put on a great live show.
REGAN RUSSELL / PRODUCTION MANAGER
Fleet Foxes with "Blue Ridge Mountains"
Brings me back to a time before graduating college when "listening to music” was still a real hobby. Plus, a bunch of dudes with beards that can harmonize this well is impressive to old school and modern folk-indie rockers alike.
KEEGAN DUNFORD / CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER
Young the Giant with "Amerika"
These guys are constantly dishing out groovy tunes—and their latest album, "Home of the Strange," did not disappoint. Amerika proves just that.
ED RAINEY / DIRECTOR OF FINANCE & BUSINESS DEV.
The Durutti Column with "Otis"
This song sounds like what living in San Diego feels like.
FRANKY ZAMBRANO / MARKETING COORDINATOR
Rancid with "Roots Radical"
I got the opportunity to check them out at Coachella, and they were so sick! It was cool to see a 90’s punk band rocking Coachella in 2016.
EDDIE MARTINEZ / WAREHOUSE SPECIALIST
Chance the Rapper with "Blessings"
I picked this song because its has very mellow vibes. Chance The Rapper is one of the best new artists, his grammy win without selling a single song is testament to his talent.
WES GATES / IT PROJECT MANAGER
Pantera with "Domination"
When I first started playing guitar this was the solo I wanted to learn the most. Unfortunately, it was just way too difficult to learn. I'm going with the live version of this song instead of the studio recording. The energy is just insane, especially towards the end of the song. The 1.6 million excited Russian fans probably helped with that.
