The Citizens of Halloween with “This Is Halloween”

Each October for the past decade or so, we’ve come up with a Limited Edition pair of Halloween-oriented sunglasses. It’s a holiday full of possibilities and creativity, so we take full advantage of the opportunity. This year’s pair might be our favorite yet: the Knock ‘Em Dead Fort Knocks. This probably ain’t the version you heard at your elementary school Halloween party. Still rocks though.

Michael Jackson with “Thriller”

Is this the best music video of all time? Probably not. Is it worth pausing to watch the whole thing if it comes across your screen? Absolutely. Plus, nothing will inspire you to learn a dance routine more than a zombified Michael Jackson & Co. strutting down a steamy street with outstretched arms and wiggly knees.

 

Rihanna with “Disturbia”

Disturbia is a great song, but it’s also the name of a pretty solid “scary” movie if you’re on the more timid side. It’s not “spooky,” but there are certainly some moments that will have you on the edge of your seat! Check out the trailer here.

 

Ray Parker Jr. with “Ghostbusters”

The idea of ghosts is a “cultural universal,” meaning it’s found in all known human cultures. This begs the question: if there are supposedly ghosts in every culture, does that mean there is the potential for ghostbusters in every culture? Imagine the crossover movies that could be made…

 

KC & The Sunshine Band with “I’m Your Boogie Man”

Not to be confused with a bogeyman, which is an imaginary monster that parents use to scare their kids into behaving, a boogie man is, we can only assume, a creature with dance moves so amazing that they actually cause fright. Or something like that.

 

Band of Horses with “Is There A Ghost”

Last minute Halloween costume idea: “Cool Ghoul”

1. Grab an old sheet from wherever you can find an old sheet
2. Cut eye holes, because being able to see while you’re walking around is helpful
3. Cover eye holes with your favorite pair of Knockarounds
4. Secure shades with your choice of hat, or go “bald” if you’re feeling extra wild

The best part about this one is that you can wear sweatpants underneath and no one will be the wiser!

 

DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince with “A Nightmare On My Street”

Not many people can pull off a novelty rap song about an 80’s horror film, but by golly Will Smith knocks it out of the park. Plus, lyrics aside, this beat is fire.

 

Warren Zevon with “Werewolves of London”

The first pair of Limited Edition sunglasses we ever made were the Werewolf Classics. We’ve come a long way with our design, but this pair still has a special place in our hearts!

 

The Shaggs with “It’s Halloween”

Last but not least, we give you one of the worst songs of all time, Halloween-themed or otherwise. But despite the off-rhythm drums, bizarre lyrics, and fully untuned guitar playing, The Shaggs somehow managed to create a cult classic of a holiday track, and for that we tip our hats. Listen to it once and you might hate it. Listen to it five times and you might start to like it. Listen to it ten times and you’ll probably hate it again. It’s cyclical like that.
