Making high-quality eyewear is the core of what we do, but inevitably (and unfortunately) that means we contribute to excess plastic by product. The idea of being a net drain on the environment doesn’t sit well with us, so we constantly retool and reevaluate our processes to see where we can reduce harm. This includes partnering with 4ocean to maintain plastic neutrality and work further to improve the environmental friendliness of our process.

That’s right—for every pound of plastic we use in production, we remove a pound of ocean-collected plastic from the environment elsewhere! To coordinate this massive collection goal, we work with 4ocean to employ captains and crews all over the world who work around the clock removing debris from oceans, rivers, and coastlines. 4ocean audits the collection amounts to ensure our status as Plastic Neutral is accurate and verified.

Achieving plastic neutrality has been a goal of ours for a long time. In 2023, by collecting 36,000 lbs of ocean-bound plastic, we finally got there. But that was just the start. In 2024, we’re aiming to collect 63,000 lbs of ocean-collected plastic. That’s the equivalent of about 2,835,000 plastic water bottles, or 44,100,000 plastic bags, or 31,500,000 plastic straws. In other words: finding a lot of stuff that we definitely don’t want in the ocean, and keeping it out of the ocean.

Stay tuned for more on this exciting and energizing partnership with 4ocean, as well as other updates about our commitment to sustainability.
