What is a TikTok Challenge?
For those who don't know, it's when people, and sometimes companies, challenge you to do specific actions, to meet specific conditions, to see who does it the best. It can be almost anything, say a dance or flipping bottles, or posing a specific question. Extra points for music and special effects.
Please Don’t Go
The Please Don’t Go challenge is a simple one: Take off in your car with the windows down for a good breeze. Then kick on the song “Please Don’t Go” by Mike Posner where the lyrics hit "yeah you got me begging”—then magically adorn sunglasses and a headscarf. And if you've got a cute pet, this TikTok challenge might be for you, as there may be nothing as adorable as your pooch or kitten riding along wearing shades and a fashionable headscarf.

Crowd Cheering
Why not celebrate life's seemingly insignificant moments with the approving roar of a crowd? So, if you have a small accomplishment—perhaps you've brushed your hair well, eaten all of your vegetables, or finally taken out the trash—maybe you should capture the moment on video and add some audio of a cheering crowd.

Now Look At This
This challenge can be just about anything you want it to be. That is if the video clip you're sharing is hilarious and bizarre. Just play Kid Cudi’s “Day ‘N’ Nite” with the line "now look at this" and show us the crazy video you've got. Pranks, pratfalls, epic fails, animal antics, and absurdities of all shades qualify for the call to "now look at this."

Tell Me Without Telling Me
This is another challenge that can go in an almost endless number of different ways, but the basic idea is "show don't tell." So TikTokers present us with a "tell me without telling me" setup, say, for example, why your spouse won't cheat on you, or how we know you're a middle child. Then show us the often-embarrassing reason why you don't need to tell us.

Waking Up in the Morning
Do you have an embarrassing moment in your life? Perhaps one that's been in your mind for years? One that's perhaps on your mind when you wake up in the morning? Share it on TikTok! And set it to audio of a young girl sadly singing about how she wakes up in the morning and wishes that her life would get better. The strangely engaging little song comes from a 2011 episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey.

Defrosting
Do you need to warm up to something or someone in your life? Maybe you need to defrost your heart to be more open to finding love. Perhaps you need to defrost your feelings toward someone specific, say a coworker you can't stand. All you need to do is tap a few beeps on a pretend microwave, stand back and rotate as the hum of the microwaves gives you a good defrosting.

I Hate All Men
Sure, this one sounds kind of harsh, but it's really kinda cute. It starts with a TikToker telling us that they hate all men...but when he...and then we get adorable clips of couples doing adorable things, set to Paravi Das doing an emotional rendition of Cloud 9's "Beach Bunny," crooning the line, "But when he loves me, I feel like I’m floating..."

The Blinding Lights Challenge
This was one of the most popular challenges in 2020 and kept its momentum going at the start of 2021. But when your grandmother is getting in on the challenge, maybe the trend is on the downswing. Still, the choreographed dances to The Weeknd's hit do make it into the TikTok Challenges Hall of Fame and so deserve an honorable mention.
